A PROPERTY IS AN INVALUABLE ASSET THAT DEMANDS OUR BEST EFFORTS TO COMPOSE, STEWARD & CURATE.
I find profound gratification in assembling and orchestrating the hundreds of elements necessary to complete a qualified composition that satisfies the desires and needs of its occupants while proving its worth over time. - Luke Sheard
I began building at a young age, helping my father construct purpose-built structures on the ranch where we grew up in rural Ventura County, California. Dad’s primary concern was practical function. In my early teen years, I became increasingly aware of the significant impact that aesthetics contribute to appealing architectural design as exposure to such increased and settled into my psyche. By my mid-teens I was enamored with well executed traditional motifs, developing a respect and affinity for classicism in the arts as well as the built environment. In those early years travel to the nation’s capital, Canada, Mexico and the California missions fed a burgeoning passion for conceptual design appropriate to place, purpose, and human context. Since then, a few trips to European capital cities and their environs has served to reinforce the great value of excellence in exceptional design; be it residential, ecclesiastical, civic, botanical, commercial or recreational, both public and private.
